What are Seasons Hospice Suites?
Seasons Hospice Suites provide a caring environment where patients can go to get help with their symptoms, whether they are psychosocial, physical or spiritual. It is a place where loved ones may spend hours or days in the same suite, providing the warmth and comfort that family and friends can offer.

Why are they called “Suites”?
The idea behind Seasons Hospice Suites is that they allow family or dear friends to remain in the same room with their dying loved one. This is the critical time when your "just being there" may be the most important thing to the patient, and you’re welcome to share the room 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What are the reasons a patient would want to go to the Hospice Suites?
The Hospice Suites provides a comforting setting and a team of highly skilled hospice professionals to help the patient meet any challenges they may encounter with their particular hospice diagnosis.

When is a patient eligible for admission to the Hospice Suites?
A patient may qualifiy for a short-term stay at the Seasons Hospice Suites for a number of reasons, including uncontrolled pain, decreased blood pressure, decreased urine output, intractable nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhea, respiratory distress, decubiti or other skin lesions/wounds, other symptoms that are unmanageable at home (active seizures, active bleeding, etc.), breakdown in family dynamics, need for respite care (up to 5 days), and/or because the family doesn't want the patient to die at home.

How long can a patient stay at the Hospice Suites?
As long as necessary to get symptoms under control or to make arrangements for care in another setting. The average stay for a patient in the Hospice Suites is 5-7 days.

Who are the staff members at the Hospice Suites?
The Hospice Suites staff includes a highly skilled interdisciplinary care team, including doctors, nurses, social workers, certified nursing assistants, therapists, chaplains, volunteers and a music therapist.

When a patient goes to the Hospice Suites does it mean they will die soon?
On the contrary, studies show that often when a patient's needs are met, whether they are emotional, spiritual or physical, they live longer. Hospice patients often begin their care at the Hospice Suites to prepare to live as long and as well as possible with their disease. The goal of hospice care is to alleviate the pain, loneliness, and fear and add quality to the patient’s life.
